Trekking in Gosaikund Lake


Gosaikund Lake is one of the important holy sites of Nepal. The alpine freshwater lake lies at an altitude of 4350 meters above sea level. Gosaikund is situated in Syabru VDC of Rasuwa in the Bagmati zone and carries natural and religious significants. It is an important religious conservation area in the Lantang Natioanl Park. According to Hindu mythology, when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced. Lord Shiva drank the p;oison to save the unverse from poison. To obtain water to cool down his burnig throat, Lord Shiva struck his trident into the rock, and his deed ultimately resulred in the formation of beautiful lakes. A big fair takes place in Jani Purnima (The sacred thread festival) and Dashain festival every year. On there occasions, thousands of devotees from Nepal and India visit the lake, Beside this tourist keep themselves moving on the beautiful trek to reac h the Langtang Himal. The local decend to plain areas in the peak winter days of January and February to keep away from cold as the lake lies at high altitude and close to the mountain. As the lake gets frozen in the winter, the tourists call its a Frozon Lake. Gosaikund is famous for its biological diversity and is supposed to have 105 ponds around. One of these, Bhairavkunda, Amakunda, Suryakunda, Sarsawatikunda as famous. The region offers as opportuniity to relish the natural beauty art and cluture, lifestyle and costume of locals, birdsof various species, plants etc. There are no facilities hotel for the tourist in Gosaikund. Tourist can stay a paying guests in the homes of local or in the tents. On snowy days tourist can stay at Lauibinayak. The travelers need to be careful during the journey as there is a highchance of suffering from altitude sickness and need to carry local harbal medicines like garlic, ginger, lemons, onions etc.

Out route to Gosaikund takes us back down the valley before a long climb up to the lakes in spectacular alpine setting. Crossing a 15,000 ft pass, we come down past a waterfall to a pretty Helembu region amking our way on one of several alternative trails through small Sherpa villages towards the road head at Sundarijal then to Kathmandu by Car.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu, Rest of the day at leisure
Day 02: Full Day City Sightseeing at Kathmandu and Patan
Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Dhunche and Overnight at Lodge
Day 04: Commence 13 Days Treks (Details Itinerary can be obtain on request)
Day 16: End trek at Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu
Day 17: Half Day sightseeing of Bhaktapur
Day 18: Transfer to airport for the final departure.
