LANGTANG GOSAIKUND LAKE TREK

TOUR DESCRIPTION:
Gosaikund Lake is one of the important holy sites of Nepal. The alpine freshwater lake lies at an altitude of 4350 meters above sea level. Gosaikund is situated in Syabru VDC of Rasuwa in the Bagmati zone and carries natural and religious significant. It is an important religious conservation area in the Lantang Natioanl Park.

According to Hindu mythology, when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced. Lord Shiva drank the poison to save the universe from poison. To obtain water to cool down his burning throat, Lord Shiva struck his trident into the rock, and his deed ultimately resulted in the formation of beautiful lakes.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL KATHMANDU:
On your arrival at Kathmandu Airport you will be met byour representative who will take you to the hotel forthe night. O /N at hotel

DAY 02: CITY SIGHTSEEING:
After having breakfast you take a sightseeing touraround Kathmandu valley. You will visit many Buddhistand Hindu temples which reflect the local culture andtradition of Nepalese society. In the afternoon you willbe taken back to your Hotel. O/N at hotel

DAY 03:KATHMANDU TO DHUNCHE -SYABRU: 117km
Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche by local bus, there is adescent to the Trisuli river which is reached withinhalf an hour. From the river bed there is a steep climbto Dovan. Right from here a track to Gosainkund leavesthe main train to Rasuwa Ghari and the Langtang Valley.From Dovan there is a gentle climb to 6,400ft. and Barkuvillage is reached. From Bharku, traversing up and downafter crossing a suspension bridge over the Langtangriver, the village of Syabrubesi is reached. Overnightat hotel.

DAY 04: DHUNCHE TO SHING GOMPA: 3330m
The trail from Dhunche crosses the river and headsthrough the forest. The trail climbs uphill most of theway until it reaches Sing Gompa. O/N in Sing GompaLodge.

DAY 05: SHING GOMPA TO LAURE BINAYAK: 3920m
From Sing Gompa the trail climbs gradually up andreaches Chalang pati (3650m) where you have a splendidview of Langtang Lirung, Tibetan mountains and theforest filled with beautiful rhododendron and pine. Thetrail ascends to Laurebina Yak. O/N in Laurebina YakLodge.

DAY 06: LAURE BINAYAK TO GOSAIKUNDA: 4460m
The route ascends up to a small temple with a statue ofSakyamuni and further climbing you can see good views ofSaraswati kunda (lake). After trekking some while youwill have excellent views of Bhairav Kunda (lake) andclimbing gently you will reach to Gosaikund. O/n inLodge

DAY 07: GOSAIKUND TO GHOPTE VIR: 3440m
The trail leads to the northern side of Gosaikunda Lake,crosses a moraine, passing three more small lakes; youwill reach Laurebina La (4610m). The trail descends to aNational Park Post at Bhera Goth (4240m) and to Phedi(3740m). From Phedi the route drops and climbs throughscrub bamboo to Dupichaur (3630m) and descends finallyto Ghopte. O/N at Lodge

DAY 08: GOPTE VIR TO THAREPATI: 3640m
Descending from Ghopte the trail makes several ups anddown across moraines, then makes a final ascent toTharepati observing the fine scenery along the path. O/Nat Tharepati Lodge.

DAY 09: THARE PAATI TO GUL BHANJAYANG: 2130m
From Tharepati the trail precedes passing throughforests, to Magen Goth (3420m) and to Panghu. The traildescends through fir and rhododendron forest observingthe view of beautiful and glittering peaks on its way toKhutumsang (2450m). Finally the trail descends to thedelightful hill village of Gul Bhanjyang. O/N at GulBhanjyang Lodge.

DAY 10: GUL BHANJYANG TO CHISOPANI: 2134m
The trek conntinues along the forested ridge climbing toThodang Betini (2260m) and to Chipling (2170m). Making avery steep descent the trail heads to Pati Bhanjyang(1860m), a Brahman and Chhetri village. Then the trailproceeds to Chisopani where you can see the mountainviews and the sunrise on the Himalaya. O/N at ChisopaniLodge.

DAY 11: CHISOPANI TO SUNDARIJAL - KATHMANDU:
From Chisopani the route goes forward through the forestof oak and rhododendron, and brings you to BorlangBhanjyang (2440m). After a while you will get to theArmy check post where your Shivapuri entrance permit ischecked, then to Mulkharka (1800m) from where you willhave a spectacular view of Kathmandu valley. Descendingthrough the forest you will reach to Sundarijal wherethere is a large water project. then take a local taxito Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 12: FINAL DEPARTURE:
Transfer to Airport for your onward destination
